Ed Grandon, Washington R.D. 6, Asks $10,000 For Hurts

Another suit to recover damages for injuries alleged to received in the fatal accident in West Chestnut street that in the death of three persons and the injury of three others, filed against the City of Washington by Ed Grandon, of R.D. 6, who seeks to recover $10,000 for injuries he claims to received. Grandon was a passenger in the automobile driven Leeper when it collided with a streetcar at 12:15 a.m., August 1942, in West Chestnut street about 150 feet west of the of Baird avenue.
Grandon avers that he suffered a concussion of the brain, injury to his back and shock to his nervous system, in lacerations, and contusions over his head and body.
It is claimed that the machine driven by Leeper struck a depression in the street at this point and skidded into the coming from the opposite direction. Five other suits have previously to recover a total of $110,000 damages.
In this mishap Charles Grandon. Robert Lee Wottle and Asa were killed, and Ed Grandon, Josephine Quinn and Susanna Grim injured.

He resided in Berkley on a farm set off by his father from his own lands. In some deeds called "Pf Dighton" into which town his land extanded.
A leading figure in the town life of old Berkley. In public and military life he took full lead. When Berkley commenced its separate town government, the first town meeting took place in his house, May 12 1735. His sons early removed to Western, towns situated along almost exactly the western bounds of Connecticut and Massachusetts, ranging from New Milford, Conn., to New Ashford, Mass.
In 1743 Elkanah Babbitt seems to have disposed of all his land holdings at Berkley and he appears thereafter for brief periods in some of the towns where his sons had settled. He perhaps accompanied his son Issac to New Jersey; at any event he owned lands there and in April 1854 was living at Mendham, NJ. at which date he and wife Mehitabel deeded lands in Mendham situated near Malachi Holloways. It is presumed that he finally returned to Berkley and died there after an adventurous and active life.
