Virginia Grandon Johnson, 65, former resident of Sterling and niece of the Late Gazette Publisher Preston F. Grandon, died this past weekend at S. Jude's Hospital, Fullerton, Cal., after a short illness.
Funeral arrangements are being completed at the Hilgenfield Mortuary in Anaheim, Cal., with services
scheduled at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Anaheim, and burial at the Loma Vista Memorial Park in Fullerton.
Born the daughter of George and Marie Grandon in Minneapolis, Minn. in 1919, Virginia Grandon attended Sterling Public Schools, graduated from Sterling Township High School, attended Stevens College and the University of Illinois.
In 1938, she married Theodore Johnson at the Grace Episcopal Church in Sterling, and was very active in church work for many years.
The family later moved to Anaheim, Cal., where she lived until her death. She was employed at North
American Rockwell until her retirement, and had attended Fullerton College on a part time basis.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Theodore Johnson Sr., her son, Theodore Johnson Jr., of Janesville, Minn.; a daughter, Mrs. Georgia J. Sanford of Diamond Bar, Cal., and son in law, George G. Sanford, also of Diamond Bar.
