Also worked as a cartager (freight hauler in wagons), farmer, carpenter, built homes, and "ran booze." Had a little farm with some chickens. Married twice, first wife died young, remarried a housekeeper named Katherine Evans a few years later.

Formerly of Jackson, passed away Sunday evening at his farm home, R. 2, Homer, Mich, aged 70 years. Survived by wife, Kathryn; three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Grandon, Norma Hart, both of Jackson, Judy at home, two sos, Walter of Colona, Ill; Wallace of New York; sister, Mrs. Estella Lewis of Lansing; six grandchildren; one great grandchild. Mr. Hart is at the C.K. Wetherby Co., where services will be held at 11am Wednesday. Interment, Woodland.

He had moved with his family to Cape may, New Jersey by 1695. There he was a charter member of the Baptist Church. His wife's maiden name is unknown.
