Active member of the Enon Baptist Church. He was a deacon. Frances preceded John in death by 18 years. She was only 38 years old. He did an admirable job raising his 4 children himself. Frances's parents were Thomas H. Cook who died in 1938 and Sara Grandon who died in 1942
