Notes: Isaac B. Grandon was a commercial photographer and printer and worked with his brother (editor and publisher of The Adrian Daily Telegram) at one time. When he and Eva were divorced, tradition tells us that he continued with this profession in the Jackson, MI area and he lived with his second wife Ethel Berry, and their children. (Summitt township). A 1910 census puts him in Jackson Co., with his wife, Father-in-law and two children. Tradition has it that Isaac ran off with his second wife Ethel leaving Eva high and dry. source: typed written paper, sent by Anne Caswell-Fockler received June 9, 2003

HART, MRS HATTIE G.
Wife of Frank E. Hart, 714 5th Street, Died at the Foote Memorial Hospital, Sunday at 1:45pm, aged 46 years. There survive the husband, two sons, and a daughter. Walter, Wallace, and Gladys at home; two brothers, Ernest Dawson, and Bert Goodale, of Jackson, and a sister, Mrs. Mabel Zachary of Alton. Il. Funeral at the home, Tuesday at 3:30 conducted by Reverend L. T. Robinson. Burial at Woodland.
1910 Census indicates Hattie had given birth to 3 children, but only 2 were now living.
1900 Census shows Hattie and brother Ernest living with Dr. John Cosford (surgeon) in Mancelona, Michigan. Her age is scribbled out and so appears to be a "1" in transcriotions. Examination of the date of birth disproves this.hattie dawson child

Family oral history:
Left home at age 10-11 when talked younger brother John into jumping horse in woods (after being told not to by mother). John fell, broke his neck, and died (about age 9). Mother would not forgive him, told him he needed to become a priest. He refused and ran away to join the circus. Worked as strongman and barker. Married Alice Heller after getting her pregnant on a town visit (she was an old maid working in her father's lumber mill as a bookkeeper). Edwin promised himself as a boy that he would never smile, and seems to have kept that promise. Lived for 20 years as an adult near family, but didn't see them. Later re-established connections.
Speculation: Kelly Bros. Circus (wife from Illinois/boarded in Iowa)
The history of the Kelly Bros. goes back to Patrick and his brother Dan Kelly who once had the circus ringbarn at Petersburg, Illinois about 1910 which was originally managed by the Shipp Family. The show was out as Kelly Brothers World's Greater Shows in 1914, and played in Illinois, Iowa and Minnesota. In 1922 it was Kelly Bros.and they did a number of fair shows. In 1927 & 1928 they went out under canvas again and called the show Singer Brothers. Dan was the clown and Pat was an acrobat. In 1946 & 1947 they played a number of indoor dates under Kelly & Morris, and had a winter quarters at Havanna, Illinois. For the 1948 season the show went out under canvas as the Kelly & Morris Circus. A few years later the show moved their winter quarters to Oak Hill, Florida and in 1956 & 1957 the title was changed to Benson Brothers. It closed that year.
